IMT Atlantique – Inter-semester 2021
Digital art workshop for engineering students
How can we train engineers to be open to the world, curious and aware of their responsibilities? ITM Atlantique provides an answer to this question in the form of training modules: the “intersemesters”.
The idea is to allow students to enrich their knowledge, to open their minds and to cultivate themselves, with subjects that are, for the most part, outside the scope of the school’s traditional disciplines. This is a great opportunity to learn about subjects that are, for the most part, outside of the school’s traditional disciplines.
Lionel Luquin, Director of Training at ITM Atlantique.
For the 2021 edition, we gave a 5-day digital creation workshop to engineering students from the Nantes, Brest and Rennes campuses.
For this workshop, the students were trained in a graphic programming software called TouchDesigner. They had to design and develop an interactive application that visualises the sound frequencies of music.
In addition, we invited representatives of Stereolux, a cultural center for contemporary music and digital arts, to share their experience and knowledge on the subject.
“I had to be adaptable, creative and take initiative to come up with an original concept.”
Vanessa, student
“Combining art and technology requires a certain amount of perspective, logic and organisation. You have to know how to manage your time in order to obtain a presentable result.”
Maxence, student
